Summer Skin

Summer is approaching (hopefully) and our beauty focus turns to protection and getting ready for the sun. The choice of suncare is vast but there's a hot debate brewing over ingredients and possible side-effects.

We love the sun and our love affair with the sun lounger is not about to end so everyone wants to find a safe place to bask. The issue of sunscreen ingredients is a complex (and pretty scientific) one but if you've ever suffered from prickly heat, sensitised skin or clogged pores we should make note that chemical sunscreens absorb UV rays whereas mineral ones reflect them. Therefore many heavily-used chemical ingredients actually cause and increase free radical damage in the skin. Mineral sunscreens like zinc oxide and titinium dioxide do not have this issue.

Experts are now trying to understand what the long-term effects of sun rays combined with synthetic chemicals are - do they cause free radical damage? I will endeavour to bring to you any up-to-date information on the issue ...oh, and don't forget your sun hat!

SisalDry body brushing is a must to keep circulation on the go - you can prompt the lymph nodes into action, otherwise circulation will be sluggish and toxins trapped. So pick up the body brush whenever you remember and brush lightly up the legs, around the tummy, up the arms towards your armpits and then all over again. You'll have lovely smooth skin as a bonus too.

As well as Body Brushing you can exfoliate and rehydrate using Lemongrass & Neroli Sugar Scrub. In the shower apply to your body whilst still dry and massage all over, shower off, your skin will be left warmly softened and exfoliated. Avoid eyes, Contains: Fairtrade Sugar and Organic Oils of Lemongrass and Neroli both noted for mood enhancing and uplifting properties. This sumptuous smelling Body Scrub at once exfoliates and re-hydrates your skin, whilst the warming aroma of Lemongrass combines wonderfully with calming essence of Neroli.
