What a lovely change in weater we are having and whilst it isn't a balmy summer climate is nevertheless is sunny, mild and bright, a welcome joy and just in time to take Mum out for a Thank You lunch on Sunday.

A religious festival celebrating motherhood has been existent in Europe since approximately 250 BC when the Romans honoured the mother goddess cybele during mid-March. As the Roman Empire and Europe converted to Christianity, Mothering Sunday celebrations became part of the church calendar and the fourth Sunday in Lent to honour the virgin mary and the mother church. Today we tend to honour our own Mothers' and celebrate the festival within our own families.
